This is an original New Old Stock vintage lithograph by Charlotte Becker, titled "Playtime Mother" — a big sister solemnly bottle-feeding a baby doll with the gravity and tenderness only a child can bring to the role, rendered in Becker's signature warmth. Charlotte Becker (1907–1984) was born in Germany and came to America at age five. She studied at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York — one of the most prestigious art schools in the country, founded in 1859 — and went on to create thousands of magazine covers, art calendars, advertisement prints, and illustrations, virtually all centered on babies and children. Her ability to capture the specific tenderness of childhood — its seriousness, its sweetness, its complete absorption in small things — made her one of the most beloved illustrators of her era. Today her original works sell for thousands of dollars at auction.

These advertisement prints were produced for use in calendars, thermometers, postcards, and hand fans — modest objects that preserved Becker's work for the homes of everyday America, and which are now actively collected. New Old Stock, pristine, never circulated. Suitable for framing; we recommend framing to preserve it.
